Amazing(ly Simple) Almond Butter Recipe
So, about that crazy ,yummy nut butter that you can find in some grocery stores, but mostly it resides on the shelves of Whole Paycheck Foods and other higher-end retailers…
IT IS FREAKING EASY TO MAKE!
So not joking here. You’ve got to try it.
First, and most important, you’ve got to have the right equipment.
I would recommend one of these:
(This is what I have and LOVE IT. It’s amazing. My Cuisinart Food Processor might get it’s own post. I use it weekly, if not daily)
Or one of these:
Or, one of these:
I know, some serious kitchen toys are required. But, here’s the thing, it’s going to have to run for 13-15 minutes, so you want the blender or food processor to have a serious motor.
Alright, are you ready for the recipe:
Mer’s Amazing Almond Butter
16oz of raw, toasted unsalted almonds (or nuts of your choice, we also tried peanuts- which were awesome!)
Sprinkle of salt
Put ingredients into food processor and blend until smooth, approximately 13-15 minutes.
Here’s the thing, be patient. It will get dry and crumbly at first. Then, it will form a massive ball and go around and around and around, until you start wondering if I am nuts (no pun intended!), then it will start to smooth out to be the most amazing and delicious nut butter you’ve ever had.
IT’S THAT EASY. Put it in a pretty jar, stick it in your fridge and enjoy over the next 3 weeks. Your friends and family will wonder how you found room in the budget to splurge on such amazing gourmet goodies!
Aside from eating this straight from the jar via spoon, it’s great on toast, with greek yogurt, apples or carrots. Go crazy. And, you can add a little cinnamon, chocolate, raisins, etc. to make it even more decadent.
And, if you don’t have an industrial mixer or processor, just take it nice and slow with the one you have. Do a few minutes at a time while you are working in the kitchen and you’ll eventually get to the consistency that you need. I just wouldn’t run it for 15 minutes and walk away…
Here’s some proof of how amazing it us:
The three-legged greyhound got a few licks in before I could get the camera down and across the table to her! Those three-legged greyhounds are fast and sneaky!
So, what are you waiting for- go dig that bag of almonds out of the freezer and get making your own almond butter!
