Pregnancy Update: Week 31
Pregnancy Update: Week 31
Well, it was a rough week in Mer’s World.. the car vandalism and losing my car for a week was really inconvenient, plus it was busy with different things at night (like birth class!), and then add to that the huge piles of snow everywhere and I was just plain BLAH this week!
Likes/Cravings: Nothing too strong this week, although I was really loving anything dairy. Yogurt, cheese for a snack, sour cream on my potato…. I think part of it is that it helps counteract the heartburn! Towards the end of the week, I was craving some red meat, so I talked the hubby into some steaks for dinner one night and burgers the next!
Challenges: Hmmm….life? I think everything this week was challenging! I am definitely more tired and wiped out at the end of the day then normal (although I hear that’s only going to get worse!!). I had a little swelling to deal with in the ankles and feet (thank god for UGGs). Sleep is interrupted and the dreams are weird/vivid, but I’ve actually had a few good nights of sleep in a row, so I’m feeling pretty darn good!
Diabetes Challenges: Eh, everything? This disease is a real pain… I’ve tried to be as consistent as possible, but I know that my numbers are a little above target. I’ve kinda lost the drive for the tight control, just plain out of steam, if you will. I’m thinking of this like the mental barrier that I faced at mile 10 in the half marathon- nothing is going to make you turn around and go back those 10 miles, but you’re not sure you have the energy and drive to do another 3.1. In other words, I’m taking a walk break and I’m pretty sure my a1C will reflect that. It’s not like I’m doing anything ‘wrong’, but just tired of all the hurdles required for tight control, which makes diabetes management more of a chore than another aspect of life! I’m sure that after this appointment (and probably getting yelled at!) that I’ll get the motivation to really tighten up control as we get closer to the end!
Baby Items Purchased: So sorry that the link didn’t work last week for the diaper bag! This is the one that I got from Vera Bradley (HERE) in the Ribbons pattern (matches the stroller and support breast cancer research- WINNING!). In addition to that, we bought a rocking chair for the nursery! Woohoo, this was really stressing me out. I was pretty much decided on the Poang from IKEA (thought process: get something that is fairly inexpensive, but looks decent until we have a better idea of how we will use the space). BUT… the hubby had me second guessing everything (and almost in tears!), until he suggested that we run to Jordan’s furniture and check out their selection! We hit the jackpot in their clearance section:

It’s comfortable, compact and the color is a great compliment to the rug and dresser that are in there (I should have a nursery post put together this week, so you can see everything! Depends on how much we get done today though…). AND, it was marked down to $237, plus we had a $200 gift card… so $37 isn’t too bad! No delivery charge, since the body shop called and Big Blue was ready to be picked up… the chair fit in the back perfectly!
Other than that, we’ve gotten some picture frames. I’m going to be hanging curtains, pictures and book shelves today! I promise, pictures coming soon!
Other notes: Not much else to report! We are starting to interview daycare providers this week. We finished our birthing class last week, and I’ve got an ob/gyn and diabetes appointment coming up this week. We’ll find out if she has ‘flipped’ and talk c-section if she hasn’t. Come on breech baby- flip!
Total Weight Change: +11.0lbs (Note: this is the last week that the numbers on the scale are ‘familiar’. With my weight yo-yo over the last few years, I’ve actually seen all of the numbers up to now at some point. We are soon heading into uncharted waters- and I’ve got the stretch marks to prove it).
XO, Mer

That rocker looks so comfy!! Love it!! Diaper bag cool too! Where is your coffee cup in the pic??
Haha my battery was dying, so I couldn’t waste time running to get it!! Thanks, Anne!
