Pictures from the weekend!

Hope you had a great weekend! My sister (Aunt Meg!) and my college roommate (Aunt Steph) were visiting, so there was lots of Maddie cuddling, hanging in yoga pants and wine drinking!

A perfect weekend in my book!

I’m headed to a new Moms play group this morning, so here are a few pictures to tide you over until I can write a longer post (maybe never??)…

This last one is because Maddie wants you to see how much her feet have grown- those socks used to be too small and now her heel is at the end of that pink polka dot! Lol and check out those cheeks!

1 Month

Dear Madison,

Wow- how has it already been a month!

Happy 1 month birthday!

This month has been a roller coaster.  Daddy and I had no idea the amount of love that you would add to our lives.

We’ve traveled the world together, set and met academic and career goals, yet sitting on the couch cuddling with you brings a level of fulfillment and contentment that we could have never expected!

We joke about starting calculus classes next week and college applications the week after, but the truth is we are just excited to watch you grow, learn and explore.  Just this week you’ve discovered how to get your fingers into your mouth, and how to escalate the volume of your screams to get IMMEDIATE attention!

You’ve taught us a few things too.  Giving you 6 ounces of formula means that we’ll be wearing at least 3 of them in a short amount of time.  Diaper changes MUST. BE. QUICK.  Or, everyone and everything will end up damp!  And, you are not a morning person.  God bless Daddy, for taking morning duty and getting you dressed, face washed and prepped for the first feeding, because you scream the entire way through it- and then promptly go back to sleep for another 3-4 hours!

We are more tired and more in love then we’ve ever been in our entire lives, and we wouldn’t change a minute of it (ok, well maybe that horrific Boston Marathon bomber!).

Everyone says you are the most beautiful baby they’ve ever seen- and we couldn’t agree more!  Those big blue eyes make us melt every time.  You already have Daddy wrapped around your tiny finger, and I’m guessing you’ll have already figured that out by the time you are able to read this!  He’s already nervous that you immediately grab the diamond necklace he gave me as a wedding present or the bracelet he gave me for your birth when I pick you up- you’ve got great taste already (you SO get that from me!).

It was a long, challenging 9 month wait to meet you, but it was worth every second.  I’m enjoying every cuddle I can and can’t wait to see what the next month holds.

With love,

Mommy

Maddie’s First Photo Shoot!

Are you getting sick of my pictures yet?

Too bad :)

Here is a sneak peek of Maddie’s first photo shoot (with our friend Dave!).

Aren’t they fantastic?! Of course, it doesn’t hurt that she’s the cutest baby ever (ok, slightly biased here!).

I’m trying to figure out where to take the blog now, so stay tuned in the coming days and weeks as I get settled into my new Mommy role and learn to balance my old hobbies (blogging, crafting, etc) with my new responsibilities (taking care of the cutest infant on the block).

I’m going to put together some posts on our hospital stay and c-section experience, plus some ‘must-haves’ for the first few weeks (assuming we manage to get into the hang of things and get more then 2-3 hours of sleep!!!). Right now, I can’t even find the cord to my laptop to charge it and download the pictures from my camera!

Xo,
Mer

Baby update!

How is it Saturday?!

So sorry to be so slow in getting an update to you!

The bottom line is that I had a minor (ok, somewhat major) complication with the epidural and required an emergency spinal blood patch on Thursday AM. The good news is that is sounds worse then it is, it fixed the problem almost immediately and I’m feeling so much better! The bad news is that I spent the first few days in terrible pain, but spent lots of time cuddling on Thursday and Friday to make up for it!

Now we are home, Gigi and Grandpa (my parents) arrived last night, and we managed 4 hours of sleep last night!

I’m going to do a longer recap post later this week, but wanted to share some pictures and thank you for all the love and support!

Tomorrow, tomorrow….

The sun will come out tomorrow!

That’s the song that was in my head when we woke up this morning!

Today is about one last date with the hubby, finishing up some house projects and relaxing in anticipation of the new chapter in front of us!

I would say that I’m feeling great! Definitely emotional and nervous, but excitement and anticipation are overpowering those feelings!

We have the first surgery spot tomorrow (8am), so hopefully we won’t have to wait long to meet our daughter!

I’m less nervous about the surgery and more about what life is going to look like for us now! I suspect that we are going to encounter changes we haven’t even considered!

So, with that, I’m going to grab my coffee, the Sunday paper and soak up some of this sunshine!

I haven’t prepped anything for tomorrow, so keep your eyes on the Mer’s World Facebook and the blog for an update!

I suspect the next few weeks will be a little sporadic with posts- and when I do post, I’m guessing it will be lots of cute baby pictures! Keep reading and checking back as we get more into the swing of our new life!

And, as always, thanks for reading and all the support along the way!

Xoxo,
Mer
