Snapshots of Boston

This weekend, we had a chance to go out for dinner with dear friends in Cambridge…

If you are local, and you haven’t been to Abigail’s, I highly recommend a stop!  It was yummy!  I had the best salad- bibb lettuce, goat cheese, apples and toasted hazelnuts and homemade mac and cheese with broccoli and bacon.

We were early, so we stopped along the Charles to snap a few photos- the city looked so pretty!

Enjoy!

Places I’d rather be…

I looked at the weather today…

…saw the accumulating snow, cold and wind and decided that today’s post would be about places that I’d rather be…

If you could be anywhere this week- where would it be?!

Honestly, I’d fly right back to Croix and be sitting on Rainbow Beach with a rented lounge chair and a virgin banana daiquiri- alternating sunburning and floating in the calm water :-)

P.S.  Happy Birthday, Mom (soon-to-be Gigi!)!  Hope you have a great day!

Market…

So, last night was date night around here!

We decided to splurge and do a really nice night out, combining anniversary (5 years, woohoo!), Brian’s upcoming birthday and that whole baby thing…

We went to Market by Jean George, one of my all time favorites in downtown Boston.  The food is always good, service impeccable and it’s fun to go downtown, get dressed up and people watch!

Since I seem to be getting more and more tired, we made a reservation on the early side, had a lovely dinner and were home in time to curl up on the couch and finish the evening with a movie.  We joked through the whole meal, that our dining out routine is already changing :-)

Today is all about errands, cleaning, organizing, laundry and prepping for the week.

What are you up to today?

Just a few pictures from last night…

Dessert  from Market (I was so hungry, I totally forgot to snap any pictures of the actual meal :-( )

When you gotta go…

You gotta go!

Here.  In a roof-less, semi-walled shack with a flushing toilet.

I know I promised you some food recipes today, but I found this one last picture and it got us laughing so I figured I would share!

Happy Wednesday!

St. Croix- What you need to know!

Here ya’ go. Homework is all done for you!

Fortunately, we are really boring on vacations and tend to find spots we love, and visit them again and again…

Here are my past re-caps of the trip, complete with where to stay/eat/shop/drink:

Planning a Trip to St. Croix

St. Croix Recap

A Full Moon and Rainbows

And, I’ve got to add that there are two great new shops in downtown Christiansted:

Joyia Jewelry- handcrafted silver/gold jewelry, with personalized charms and engraving!  I happen to know that my dear husband has tucked away a great set of silver bangle bracelets for the next time that I’m a ‘good girl’ (or, more realistically, the next time that I am a sobbing, hormonal, pregnant mess and he doesn’t know what else to do…).

The Blue Mutt- a great boutique shop that benefits the local animal shelter.  I got a great shirt there… just waiting for the right day to reveal it :-)  Friendly staff, lots of choices, and your shopping benefits the animals on the island!  A win-win!

Have you been to St. Croix?  What were some of your favorite places to eat/shop?  When you go on vacation do you ‘adventure’, ‘relax’ or try and find a middle ground?

I would like to be in the ‘adventure’ camp, but honestly, I usually end up just turning off my brain and focus on relaxing… lazy mornings, long afternoons at the beach and lots of food food, laughter and family time!

Back tomorrow with some great recipes that I’m excited to try from Pinterest!

XO, Mer
