Shopping List

So, I apologize, these past few days (ok, maybe weeks?!) I’ve been in a bit of a funk.  Just not feeling myself, and not nearly as motivated as I normally am…

So, I’m putting together a little list of retail therapy that might help me get back into regular, healthy habits!

Can’t guarantee that I’ll buy any of them, but just contemplating my options!

What do you do to get back on track?!  Purchased any new gadgets lately?

I love Ellie Kreiger for her simple and easy meals! I’m always amazed by the flavors, with the simple, healthier ingredients. I have one of her cookbooks, and would love another!

I’m ready for some new walking shoes. I usually go for white shoes, but I’m in the mood to try some of the funky neon colors that are out there now! How about these Lime/Magenta ones?

So, that’s my list!

Sorry for all the amazon.com links- they make it so easy to post pictures of products! Darn you Nordstroms for making it impossible to use your pictures!!

Thank goodness Thursday is connected to Friday!

Have a good one!

Working It Out!

When I started this blog, more than a year ago (AHHH!!), my goal was to lose weight and get healthy.

Well, I’ve kinda succeeded. I’ve hit (and am maintaining!) diabetes targets that I’ve never even been close to in the past! And, my weight is creeping down. Slowly. Not nearly as quickly as it was gained.

Why does a cupcake go straight to my ass, but an hour on the treadmill doesn’t even budge 0.1lb?

So, I’ve adjusted my thinking and my priorities. My number one priority is to maintain my diabetes control and my number two priority is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and outlook on life.

You probably won’t see me registering for another half marathon anytime soon, but more often than not, you’ll find me logging 30-45 minutes a day on the treadmill. Sometimes it’s a brisk walk, sometimes more of a stroll, but generally enough movement to start a little sweat flowing.

I’ve changed my attitude to make it more fun and relaxing for me, rather than ‘just another thing on the list’.

Here are a few of the things that have been helping me along the way:

The Pitbull station on Pandora is perfect for after work walking.  It keeps me moving (fast!), makes me laugh out loud with the lyrics and since Pandora does all the work mixing the songs, I can just focus on walking and relaxing!  I use my iPhone app and a pair of headphones when I am on the treadmill!

My Nike tempo shorts!  Perfect for working out, working in the yard, errands around town or just lounging around the house.  (Hint, if your booty needs a little more room, check out Nordstroms HERE for additional sizes).

Watching the Olympic recaps and updates while I walk also helps keep me motivated, and so focused on any mens swim team the competition that I don’t even notice that 45 minutes has passed!

So, what are you doing to fit in your workouts?  Has your attitude changed over these past few months? years?
